In a strategic move straight out of the town council corruption playbook, a local Dad has managed to swing a lucrative contract in his family’s favour.

Brett Warren, a 38-year-old father of three, has never taken much interest in the politics of his kid’s school South Betoota Public, and has always dodged the opportunity to join the school’s P&C (Parents and Citizens Association).

Even when given the chance to join the group earlier this year, Brett encouraged his wife Julie to take on the role, given he has to take the kids to Scouts every Tuesday night, the same night as the P&C’s bi-monthly meeting.

But after getting a whiff this week the committee would be beginning to prepare for the upcoming election and arranging the customary fundraising BBQ, it’s alleged Brett has been nagging his wife all week to make sure she can get his brother Phil the contract for the democracy sausage order.

Returning home from tonight’s P&C meeting, wife Jules was welcomed to a barrage of questions.

“You put Phil’s name forward right?!” Brett asked his wife, who’d just sat through a tedious two hour meeting that debated everything from canteen foods to the design of a new school uniform.

“It could be $5,000 worth of business for his butcher shop, and you know Phil could do with the extra leg up!

“I’ve already got him the sausage order for the Scout Hall, if we can get him the school as well it’ll be a big payday for everyone. He promised us the first week of Nanna’s lake house over Christmas if we can get the contract for him, he said he’ll cater Christmas day lunch too!”

More to come.
