A local fan of constitutional democracy is today celebrating in trademark style. Eric Anderson (29) from Betoota’s French Quarter is doing so by wrapping his lips around a juicy sausage courtesy of a local sporting organisation.

“It’s about showing respect for the great tradition of democracy,” laughed the man munching on a democracy sausage, heavily coated with MasterFoods democracy sauce, out the front of his democratic polling booth.

“Obviously I’m partial to a sausage sizzle at footy, school fete, a mate’s place, or wherever they may find me really,” he continued.

“But on politics’ day of days, it really does hit the spot with a fair squeeze of the old MasterFoods democracy sauce.”

“Really good quality snag today too actually.”

“Bit of fennel in the pork or something, I’ll be going for my third in a second I reckon.”

When asked about his voting preference, Eric laughed.

“Don’t talk politics around the dinner table mate,” he said pointing to his sauso.

“Nah look, Dave’s (Littleproud) getting in no matter what,” he continued, referencing the 30% swing required to knock our local candidate off his perch

“So I thought I’d fling my vote towards the Free The Herb Pirate Party And Environmental Defender candidate,” he laughed.

“Seems to be across quite a few really interesting issues.”

Eric then explained that he now plans to go and continue celebrating the day by polishing off a crisp schooner of Hawkes lager.

“I’m not affiliated with a major party, but it’s the most democratic of beers out there, so may as well go and dip the toe in.”

“Beautiful Saturday, be rude not to.”

More to come.
