A Betoota Ponds woman looking to support herself through university has been given just two options when it comes to finding a retail job at a commercial chain, given she sports both tattoos and piercings.
Violet Keogh, 22, a cyber security student in her second year at Betoota Polytechnic, tells our reporter that her job prospects in the commercial space are pretty limited given she’s an alternative lady.
With Betoota recently shutting down its one ‘Off Ya Tree’ store, Violet now finds herself facing one of two roads to go down – JB Hi Fi or Dangerfield.
“I’d be fine if I was looking for a role at a tobacco shop or a butcher but there aren’t many of those opportunities here in Betoota”, says Violet, who sports blue hair, two nose piercings and 7mm gouges in her ears, “so my best bet is getting something at the local Westfields.”
Unbeknownst to Violet, it’s actually illegal for anyone alternative looking to work anywhere except JB Hi Fi and Dangerfield, as stated by Fair Work Australia, act 4, section 20.
“I think EB Games might be cool with it too, but I’ll have to double check.”
More to come.
