A famous win for the Wests Tigers has turned somewhat sour today, after revelations more than half the team could face time on the sidelines.

10 players have been put on report following the thrilling Golden Point win, as part of the NRL’s crackdown on high tackles and contact.

While other players were put on report for contact during the game, the rush to celebrate with Adam Douehi after he kicked the matching winning goal, has seen 8 sent to the naughty corner.

All 8 are facing charges for the high contact to Douehi during that celebration, ranging from Grade 1 to 2 depending upon where the point of contact was, and the force with which that contact was dealt out.

The boss of the Referee’s Association has yet to comment on the matter, saying they are waiting for NRL boss Peter Vlandys to text him and tell him how he feels about the matter today.

The punishments for the Tigers capped off a weekend where 18 players were sin binned, with fans, pundits and players bemused by the crackdown.

It’s a move aimed at protecting players so they don’t end up like previous generations, with coaches to inevitably correct and spend the week focusing on tackling around the waist.

However, many have questioned how this new high tackle rule will effect State of Origin.

Peter Vlandys was contacted for comment on the matter but has refused to confirm if Origin will be different, or will essentially be Rugby League 9s.

More to come.
