Many cultural commentators have today announced that for anyone under the age of 40, the “Australian Dream” is living somewhere that has a shower with decent water pressure.
“I don’t give a shit if it’s a house, a sharehouse, an apartment or a hostel, if the place has a shower with good water pressure I know I’m doing better than most people my age” said Dylan Cheshire (29).
Many are saying that the death of the old Australian Dream of owning a home is an indictment on the generation that created this. environment, but some are saying this might actually be a positive thing.
“The Australian Dream has been dead for longer than most of these young people have been alive, it’s probably a good thing that they’re finally lowering their standards” said one leading economist who bought a house for $190,000.
The new announcement has made keen real estate agents put the quality of water pressure in the bathrooms of their dilapidated sharehouse’s front and centre on all advertisements.
“Good water pressure is a luxury now and it’s probably smart for us to increase the rent if we have a property that has it” said a real estate agent.
