An avid Letterboxd user has been left physically and emotionally shattered after learning that his deep cut 90’s Central European film  has already been watched by his far less cultured friend.

Ned Thorton (31), was left speechless earlier today when what he thought was his life changing movie recommendation to a friend that claims to be to “ADD” to get through a movie these days, ended badly.

“I really thought this recommendation was going to open his eyes to the beauty of cinema, It was such a great movie that really challenged me and I thought he might get around it” Ned explained.

Unfortunately for Ned, his friend had not only already seen the film — he had logged it on Letterboxd two years earlier with the review: “the main chick was hot but it was little slow i guess”

Witnesses say Ned stood in silence for nearly a minute before deleting the elaborate four-paragraph message he’d written to accompany the recommendation.

“He doesn’t even know where the fuck the Czech Republic even is” Ned muttered, staring blankly at his phone while sipping an overpriced coffee.

In an attempt to recover, Ned began queueing up a new list of obscure post-Soviet documentaries that “no one normal would ever sit through.”

The friend in question later admitted he watched the film while scrolling through TikTok and “wasn’t really paying attention.”

Ned has since made his Letterboxd profile private.

He has also reportedly unfollowed the friend on Instagram.
