In some breaking news from the city of Brisbane, ‘the worst Queensland side in 40 years’ actually isn’t too bad.
In hindsight, they’re actually pretty fucking good, it can be confirmed.
This follows the 20-14 win over the Blues in the State of Origin decider at Lang Park last night, clinching a 2-1 series win.
The win that had the state screaming ‘Queeeeeensalnddeerrrrrrrrr’ and the Valley going off, comes after 9 series losing Blues player Paul Gallen consistently labelled the Queensland team ‘the worst side in 40 years of Origin.’
While there is arguably some merit to the argument put forward by Gal considering the Maroons’ teams of years past, those comments understandably served as a red rag to a bull, with a group of 17 Queenslanders putting in an incredibly Queensland performance.
With Munster playing some of the best football seen since the turn of the century, Harry Grant proving he could be a generational player and a host of other Queensland players all shining, the comments have come back to bite Gal and all of the other cocky Southerners who thought they were just going to roll the Maroons because they had ‘a good team on paper.’
“They just don’t get it,” said one very hungover Betoota Heights man this morning.
“Origin just hits different up here.”
“Just ask Fatty,” he laughed.
“Or Wally, or Sammy, or JT, or anyone.”
