The fabled island of Tasmania has today appointed it’s new leader, after a long southern conclave.

According to the scribe received by The Betoota Advocate’s Tasmanian carrier pigeon, Jeremy Rockliff is set to lead the island for the next few months.

Rockliff will become the new Premier of the state, ahead of the inevitable election that is called for early next year.

Rockliff was forced to take his pitch to the populous last month, after failing to get parliament to pass legislation and guarantee supply – aka keep the money flowing out of the public coffers.

That lead to a statewide election not long after the previous election.

Supply has not been guaranteed and the stadium sized issue of an AFL stadium at Macquarie Point has also not been resolved, meaning it will not long before the next election is also called.

“It will be great to jump in the big chair for the next few months,” said Rockliff in a written statement to the mainland media.

“I am looking forward to arguing about the stadium and the lack of funding for the housing crisis (caused by you mainlanders) for the rest of the year, before being unable to pass any legislation and having to call another election.”

“Given our inability to get a footy team without a nice closed in air conditioned set up, voting might become our regional sport.”

The Tasmanian Labor Party has been contacted for comment on why the fuck they are even bothering to run if they couldn’t be bothered trying to form government.

More to come.
