NRL Supremo Peter V’Landys has had another productive Friday morning, it can be confirmed today.

Speaking to The Advocate this morning, V’Landys explained that he’s pretty much most of the way there on a new rule change.

“Obviously I don’t want to tell you guys yet, but it’s a pretty exciting one,” he laughed.

“And I definitely won’t be telling the referees until just before kick off,” he continued.

This comes after a big couple of years of frequent rule changes – from revolutionary ones like 6-again to minor ones like balance while playing the ball.

When pressed on what the new change might be, he hinted at the famous backwards out of the hands debate.

“I can already see Joey giving himself a hernia now,” said V’Landys.

“There’s just way too many forward passes in the game, out of dummy half in particular.”

“This one is gonna be a serious whopper.”

V’Landys explained that the genesis for the new change came after watching the game on tele last night.

“There were heaps that just weren’t called, so I’m sending the directive down.”

He then refused to comment on whether the changes are genius plays to get media and fans talking, engaging and interacting with the game.

More to come.
