A local Sydney man who hasn’t been to the bush since year 6 camp, has finally broken his silence on what he would of done differently to the German backpacker who was found in the WA outback after 11 nights.

Atticus Yorke (28), a proudly cosmopolitan man hailing from Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, believes he would have faired a lot better than this “clueless European backpacker”.

“Firstly, I wouldn’t have walked so far away from my vehicle.. absolute armatur mistake” explained Atticus.

“Secondly, I’d ration my resources properly, sip the water, don’t skull it ” he added, while sipping an oat flat white outside a Bondi cafe.

“Did she even attempt the Cooee shout?”

Atticus went on to explain that, had he been in the same situation, he would’ve used the sun and the stars to navigate himself back to civilisation.

When questioned on how he would be able to locate civilization in rural WA, Atticus was quick to change the subject.

“Also, drinking from puddles? Sounds like a pretty good way to get sick if you ask me” he said.

When asked about his actual bush skills, Atticus cited an outdoor Youtuber he likes to fall asleep to occasionally and the hit series Alone.

“Mate, I’ve seen Alone, I know what I’m doing. You stay put. You conserve calories. You stay calm.”
