Queensland Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski says a man who went missing from mandatory quarantine in Toowoomba has been found.
“That person was found missing yesterday and has returned into quarantine and has declared themselves and surrendered themselves” he said.
The 25-year-old man returned from a New South Wales hotspot and was directed to hotel quarantine for 14 days, police said.
He will face court in September. Aside from a few fines which he has the right to appeal well after this whole pandemic thing settles down in Queensland, it looks unlikely this man will suffer any other repercussions for his wildly reckless behaviour.
This man, who hasn’t even been named despite the statewide manhunt for him for several hours yesterday, also appears to be of Anglo-Celtic origin – which means he will not have to endure being labelled an ENEMY OF THE STATE and having his identity plastered across the front page of the highest circulated newspaper in the state.
That’s according to representatives from Brisbane’s Courier Mail, a tabloid newspaper owned by NewsCorp – a media company that rose to prominence when it was found guilty of hacking the voicemails of dead British children.
Unlike the two African-Australian teenagers who brought COVID-19 back into Queensland in late July, this unnamed quarantine escapee will not have his identity pinballed around social media with calls for him to be executed and sent back to where he came from.
Thousands of Jet Skis and very-close-up boomer selfies have taken to social media today to argue ‘its got nuthin to do with race’ because those black girls lied at the border, and they deserve to have their lives ruined because that’s irresponsible and un-Australian.
These strawman theories have since been debunked by the news that Toowoomba man was previously charged with other criminal offences after police caught him attempting to enter Queensland unlawfully.
At time of press, the Courier Mail was attempting to humanise another man who had killed his entire family in a moment of being ‘pushed to the brink’.
