A local primary producer from our town’s Betoota Plains region has today lashed out at electric vehicles, for the 223rd time this year.

Speaking to our reporter from the counter of B&B’s agricultural supplies store, Phil Thompson (62) explained to us that he can’t believe these ‘fucking electric vehicles are still getting a free ride.’

“Mate, every fucking combustion engine road user has to pay to hit the tarmac in this country, and these lycra wearing city soy boys get to quietly tear up the road for free,” said Thompson.

“We pay the fuel excise tax every single week, how come these driving battery fires get away without having to contribute to the national coffers,” said the man driving a suspiciously spotless 2023 Toyota LandCruiser, that is apparently his farm vehicle.

The issue in question is the obvious lack of fuel excise tax paid by vehicles that don’t put any fuel into their tanks.

Despite being much better for the environment and our economic obligations under the Net Zero roadmaps, the government has confirmed it will fast track plans to regulate taxing EV users in Australia.

“About bloody time,” said Thompson, who may or may not be using the current tax system to claim huge deductions off his tax for a new town and Yamba car – that he tells the ATO is a dedicated farm vehicle.

“Can’t be one rule for some and one rule for the rest.”
