A fairly ordinary television advertisement for a local boat retailer featuring a scantily-clad model in a bikini has set a local Dad up for possibly the most hilarious joke of all time.
The iconic moment took place at about 10:30am Sunday in the loungeroom of a modest 3 bedroom brick veneer house in the heart of the Tyre Swan District. Trapped inside by heavy rain, the Wilkinson family were playing Cluedo, with the exception of Father of 2 Justin Wilkinson who was watching a fishing show.
Suddenly, during a commercial break, Justin drew the attention of the other male family members to a television advertisement for a 4.5m tinny, the features of which were being pointed out by a generously-proportioned promotional model. “Whoa!” he exclaimed, motioning towards the screen, “does she come with it?”
The impact of the side-splitting quip was instantaneous, with Mum having a bit of a giggle while sons Corey, 16 and Tim, 14, collapsed in screams of laughter.
“You should have heard it, the timing was so good” explained Corey. “He’s just seen this girl on the ad and gone, ‘Does she come with it?’ and everyone just lost it. I don’t know where he gets his material from, it was gold. Solid gold”.
Both boys agreed the dropping of the funny-bomb will be remembered for years to come. “I wish we had recorded it or something, because you really had to be there” recalled Tim. “It was so perfect. I’m not sure if Dad came up with it on the spot or if he’d come up with it already and was just waiting for the perfect moment. Imagine that; buying a tinny and getting a promo girl with it! Classic!”
