A local Betoota Heights man has today found himself confronting a weird new reality.
Berrick Watts (28) says he is currently coming to terms with the fact that he might actually be a “theatre guy” moving forward.
This comes after the red-blooded Western Queensland male reluctantly agreed to accompany his girlfriend to see a production on their Melbourne weekend away.
With the Pies and Richmond doing battle in a blockbuster Friday night clash at the G, Berrick had through gritted teeth given the thumbs up to see a theatre show in the nation’s self-titled “most European City.”
However, after seeing hordes of scarf wearing southerners descend on the Colosseum of the Sherrin, Berrick said he began to feel a real tinge of regret.
“I was off it to be honest, we had a nice meal beforehand which was great, but I was thinking I’d rather see 60,000 people screaming at some guys dancing on the turf, than a few people on stage singing and dancing,” he laughed.
But, barely 10 minutes into the first performance, Berrick’s girlfriend Gill said she caught the big fella singing along.
“He loveddddd it,” she laughed to us.
“As much as he hates to admit it, he had a good time and feels very refined and woke after 48 hours in the culture capital of the country.”
More to come.
