True harmony has been reached this week, as the bosses of two separate tent villages meet to arrange an armistice on neutral territory.
As the supreme leaders of their self respective campsites, local dads Rick Cronin and Mick Hasler take great pride in their heralded position as the duel kingpins of Port Macquarie caravan park, a place they venture to every Christmas with five or so other families.
But with the Breakwall caravan park overflowing with holiday makers, and a number of suspicious “Newbies” around, the two proud boat owners are understood to have agreed to work together to optimise their holiday schedule.
Standing in the middle of the empty road that connects their two campsites, both Rick and Mick hashed out a plan that would see them in their boats and out on the water before the mid-morning rush.
“Well mate I’ll head down there about 8am and suss it out, but if we get there early we should be right,” said Mick, taking a swig from a XXXX Gold he had jammed into his favourite stubby cooler.
“Yeah easy, I won’t be far behind ya and I’ll give ya a hand backing it in,” offered Rick.
Determined to outsmart all the newcomers to the popular holiday destination, who are unaware that both Mick and Rick have been bringing their families to Port for the past 12 years, the pair decided to amalgamate their knowledge and power for the benefit of each other’s holiday.
“Yeah too easy, and if it’s a bit busy I’ll shoot you a text, I’ve got your number from last year” said Mick, pulling out his greasy iPhone 8 and flicking through his contacts.
“Yeah shoot us a text,” replied Rick, pausing before launching into their yearly catchup, “Anyway, uhh how’s the year been, I see you’ve put a new motor on the boat?”
More to come.
