A Sydney girl who moved to the bush looking for love is in for a shock today, as she comes to terms with a severe man-drought plaguing the town she’s found herself in.
After spending the whole 28 years of her life living in the leafy streets of Balmain in Sydney’s Inner West, it’s understood Registered Nurse Claire Burr decided it was time to finally leave her linen clad bubble, and explore some regional towns that don’t have a Westfield.
Offered the chance to work a rotation of placements in rural hospitals, it’s believed Claire’s love for Australian crime authors such as Jane Harper inspired her to pack up her Country Road duffle bag, and head west for a two month stint in the town of Cobar.
A self-confessed Mystery Road fan, Claire’s secretly fantasised about moving to a ‘dustbowl’ town, and having a fling with a hunky blow-in police detective who’s arrived to solve a triple murder homicide. However, after two weeks working night shifts at Cobar District Hospital and volunteering with any cases that may involve an interview with police, Claire’s disappointed to have not encountered a single eligible bachelor, not to mention one trying to solve a horrendous crime with national media coverage.
“It’s been slim pickings in the man department!”, confessed Claire.
Claire told our reporter that she was starting to consider whether her choice to move out west to support the crippling health service wasn’t quite worth all the grim Tinder matches she’d swiped through.
“I thought I’d land here and within a week be a key witness in a triple murder investigation, now it looks like I’m gonna have to join the local Touch Footy comp if I want to find a man.”
“I even ran a red-light in front of a Copper the other day to see what the quality was like, and all I got was some grumpy Superintendent who looked weeks off retirement.”
