The Member for Kennedy Bob Katter has drawn the ire of inner-city lefties this morning after images surfaced of the politician feeding an entire 1.2kg log of devon to a giraffe at Australia Zoo this week.
Staff at Australia Zoo confirmed that a 7-year-old giraffe named Frisbee consumed the meat but thankfully was not harmed.
The majestic animals are herbivores and live on a diet of leaves and berries, which is why zookeepers at Queensland’s favourite animal park were so concerned about Frisbee.
However, Mr Katter has rejected the zoo’s concerns.
Speaking to The Advocate this morning via wireless telephone, the Father of the House said he didn’t want to feed Frisbee the devon but only did so because he looked so poorly.
“We have been feeding devon to horses in North Queensland for centuries,” said Mr Katter.
“There is nothing better, other than a bit of copra meal and hot chips, for putting condition and weight on a horse. A giraffe is simply the uptown girl cousin of the horse and that bloody thing wolfed that log of devon down quicker than a mob of dingos on a sickly Pekingese bitch from New Farm, a dingo would tear a little dog like that to bits. That’s what this giraffe was like. You can’t stand there and tell me that Frisbee was not hungry. If he wasn’t hungry, then why did it eat the meat? Correct me if I’m wrong but giraffes don’t eat meat? Well, aside from the occasional lady beetle or ant. I’m not sure you’d count them but some, in the lunatic left, would consider them to be animals. Anyway, reminds me of the time we had this old pony named Phantom and he got a taste for meat after hoovering up one of the governess’ kittens and after that, we couldn’t stop Phantom from eating kittens, it was something seldom seen outside the pages of fiction,”
“Ultimately, I didn’t consider that when I fed that devon to Frisbee but what’s done is done.”
When asked why he had a log of devon in the first place, Mr Katter explained he often picks one up to have for tea.
