A reluctant balance has been restored on our nation’s east coast and fans of the NSW State of Origin team share a secret relief upon taking their rightful place in the world; being fans of a second-string rep team with a long history of having their hopes dashed.
Although NSW have recently tasted the rare feeling of success in sport’s greatest arena, many Blues fans have agreed their loss to the great state of Queensland is meant to be, even if they don’t fully ‘get’ origin.
“Look, last year was great, carving it up in Queensland but it just felt kind of wrong you know?” stated Blues ‘fan’ Anna Humperdink.
“It was nice to watch but also strange. Like a dog walking around wearing a hat without it falling off or anything.”
“But this [loss] makes sense. It just does. There’s a reason we’re called the Blues. If we were winning, maybe we’d be called the Happies but not in this universe.”
“Maybe our state government will legalise whatever the fuck Freddie is smoking when he picks the teams! That’s something to look forward to!”
