The people in charge of one of Australia’s most successful companies have today moved to manage a bit of a PR crisis.

The CEOs and Co-founders of Afterpay have been forced to defend revelations that they got paid a combined 264 million bucks for the 2021 financial year.

Anthony Eisen and Nick Molnar have become Australia’s highest-paid executives, mostly because of equity options that made them a fuck load of money – rather than having a 132 million dollar a year fixed salary, or a 61 million dollar salary with 61 million dollars worth of bullshit bonues.

Regardless of the manner in which they made 132 million per person per year in the middle of a global pandemic, questions have still been posed by plenty around the nation about whether they deserve nearly 3,000 times more than the average Australian worker.

The Afterpay payday comes alongside huge payrises and bonuses for other CEOs, who were on the frontline over the last couple of years generating value for their companies.

However, the CEOs of Afterpay haved moved to quell any criticism of the fact they are taking home more than a hundred mil a year, saying their company is actually going to make the payments to them in four interest free installments.

“Easy and simple, just four interest free repayments,” said one of the CEOs today.

“Besides, we actually worked 3,000 times more hours than the average worker in the country, and probably 3,000 times harder, so it’s fair renumeration.”

“Don’t be bitter, be better.”

More to come.
