A Guzman & Gomez employee has today seen just how large the wealth gap in Australia is, leaving them feeling pretty delusional and hopeless about the future of this nation.
Anthony Steele [23] says he never considered himself a political person, but this rude awakening has left him with a lot of food for thought – and a harsh warning, seeing as he made the cardinal sin of showing a little too much of his personality to a customer.
Working the end of a long shift, Anthony had been just about to wrap away some of the food when a rather portly bloke made his way over, and ordered a house deposit’s worth of food without so much as batting an eyelid.
Gazing at the bloke with the thousand yard stare of a broken person who’d been doing customer service for too long, he’d asked the bloke in a monotone voice what he’d like on his burrito, before mechanically dolloping a ten cent piece worth of beef on the base – that is, before the customer said something so absurd, it caused him to pause in confusion.
“Wait, what was that?”
“I’ll have shredded lettuce and an extra dollop of guac.”
Looking at him for a couple of seconds too long, Anthony makes sure to clarify the order, as he can’t risk accidentally wasting such precious resources.
“You want both? Guac and lettuce?”
“Yeah mate extra guac.”
“Fucking alright Kerry Packer.”
It’s alleged the bloke had given Anthony a dirty look as he was blissfully unaffected by anything going on in the economy at the moment, before hastily snatching his burrito and muttering something about rude children.
