There’s some good news for regional Australians today!
For the first time in decades, the party that is paid to represent people from the bush, is actually going to fight for them.
Not on issues like woeful underfunding of health and education services, or the scourge of crystal methamphetamine through local communities, or the mice plague that’s about to explode again this spring – but on the issue of Net Zero 2050.
“This is for the people of our regions,” said Barnaby Joyce, the leader of the Nationals and close personal friend of Gina Rinehart.
His comments come as the Nationals break rank on the issue of Australia committing to carbon neutrality in 30 or so years time, something that even the likes of America and the UK have come around to.
“This is the number one issue for people in the bush,” continued the leader of the Nats who refuses to acknowledge the role climate change is playing in the drastic weather events that have dramatically affect primary producers and regional Australians.
“And that’s why we are doing everything we can to dig our heels in and undermine the experts who are simply trying to avoid an environmental catastrophe that could ruin the human race,” Joyce said.
Joyce and his colleague’s incessant attacks on the idea of becoming carbon neutral, fly in the face of organisations like the rabid leftie National Farmers Federation who have called for the sector to reach Net Zero by 2050.
While groups like the NFF have read the writing on the wall and are asking for governments to come up with an innovative policy that helps primary producers future proof and transition their businesses, Barnaby says ‘that’s all bullshit.’
“It’s easier for me to hit out at inner-city lefties and greenies on shit like this than actually address pressing issues and work on policies that will improve the lives of people living in regional communities.”
“So, just make the headline about Net Zero being greenie bullshit that’s gonna drive power prices up and slug pensioners.”
More to come.
