Things aren’t getting much better for at-home office worker Casey Sprigg (28) who as a resident of Melbourne has once again found herself in a lockdown almost too boring to be traumatising.
Now in a regular cycle of waking up five minutes before starting her day of work from home, knit-picking around the house between Zooms and drinking the second it could be considered culturally acceptable, Sprigg can some up her lockdown experience by quoting her least original coworkers.
“Yes, it is all a bit like Groundhog Day isn’t it Stacey?” stated Sprigg during a work Zoom, with a smile so fake it could be purchased at Paddy’s Markets.
“Yes, except no Bill Murray, haha, very good Stace.”
According to Sprigg, several of her co-workers, including the notorious Stacey, have drawn comparisons between the several drawn out lockdowns she has lived through and the 1993 fantasy comedy film starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.
Directed by Harold Ramis, Groundhog Day features an egotistical reporter stuck in a time loop on February 2nd in the town of Punxsutawney Pennsylvania, forced to live the same day over and over again to the tune of Sonny & Cher.
Now like Phil Connors incarnate, Sprigg is forced to endure a repetitious cycle of people making the same comparison every single day.
“They say “It’s like Groundhog Day” every single day!” stated Sprigg as she too imagined driving off a cliff with her town’s stolen mascot.
“Groundhog Day was in the snow! It had punchlines! The lead character changed for the better for fuck’s sake, It’s nothing like being in lockdown!”
