In NSW, the Government’s public sector pay freeze announcement was announced early this week by the state’s premier, Gladys Berejiklian, and was put forward in an attempt to save the state $3 billion – which could come in useful given the looming recession.
While the pay freeze came as a shock to a lot of the country, The Advocate can exclusively reveal that the pay freeze was actually the public sector’s preferred option.
According to a confidential source, public servants voted to cop the pay freeze rather than sacrificing any of their precious RDOs.
“There’s no way I’d give up my RDOs, if I work a minute past my contractual obligation I deserve to be compensated!”
“Yeah, nah, I’ll keep the days off thanks – I don’t think I’ve worked a full week in over a year”
The pay-freeze isn’t across the line just yet, the Government needs a majority in the Upper House to move the policy through – and just like House of Cards, treasurers and ministers have been lobbying behind the scenes to make sure they have the numbers to get it through.
“This thing better get through – if they come after my RDOs I’ll vote bloody labor next time!”
More to come.
