The Northern Territory only has three active cases of coronavirus at the time of print and the pubs are opening directly.
To end envy of the rest of the nation.
While roadblocks are still in places, preventing Southerners from entering the Never Never, the Territory Government has asked the creators of their unofficial tourism campaign to temporarily update the famous CU in the NT slogan until this pandemic goes away.
Speaking to The Advocate today via telephone, the Big T’s tourism minister explained that while the nation’s least populous division depends heavily on the tourism sector, their hopes of enjoying a cold one next week depends heavily on tourists staying away.
“Pretty simple message,” they said.
“Don’t come here. Stay away, we won’t be seeing you in the NT for a while. While the government finds that particular slogan quite distasteful and disrespectful, we no doubt understand it’s the appeal and the reach it has,”
“So we have asked the creators to update it to reflect the government’s position on the matter. “
More to come.
