The world-wide lockdown has spat out some pretty interesting and creative ways people are staying sane while spending every waking hour in their homes; gummy bear choirs, at-home fitness classes, baking, and for some unknown reason, everyone over the age of 30 trying to have a crack at TikTok.
Local woman, Kansas Cleary is one of these people, uploading a video of herself standing in front of her bathroom mirror.
“Am I doing this right?” she began her video by asking.
She then went on to explain to her ‘followers’ that she was new to TikTok and that she didn’t really get it.
Shortly after posting the video, Kansas decided that the content sharing platform wasn’t for her, mainly because there were no proper filters and you actually have to have some skill to make your content engaging.
The Advocate reached out to Kansas to chat a little further about her decision.
“Yeah, look, it was a fleeting thought to be honest. I’d heard my housemate talk about it heaps so I thought I’d give it a go”
“But it’s too hard, I just don’t even get it”
Judging from the content on TikTok, our social media manager says that Kansas isn’t alone in her confusion about the platform, with the majority of contributors over the age of 30 uploading absolute shit.
More to come.
