A city worker was left shocked and confused this morning after reading a fair and balance article on Bill Shorten and the Labor Party in a News Corp newspaper – triggering fears he’s woken up in a parrelell universe.
Finance expert David Goldman told The Advocate this morning that he thought he picked up a copy of our esteemed inland newspaper when he left the cafe this morning as the cover story today was
However, upon closer inspection, the 59-year-old found the paper in his hands to be The Betoota Bugle, our town’s most popular Murdoch tabloid.
“I never thought I’d see the day Bill Shorten is called a ‘patriot’ by a News Corp newspaper,” he said.
“Nor did I think they’d critically analyse Chris Bowen’s promises and find some of them might benefit the lives of many Australians across a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds,”
“What the hell is going on? Has News Corp always supported winners or do they want until the result is as clear cut as it is now? I’m so confused. Is the world ending?”
The Advocate’s editor, Clancy Overell, said he spoke to the Bugle’s editor, Brett Dooner, this morning about the change of heart and what he said sent a chill down our spines.
“We aren’t in the business of backing losers,” said Dooner.
“Scott Morrison is going to lose this election and that’s sadly an undeniable fact. So News Corp decided to warm to Bill so he doesn’t call an inquiry into the meddling our news media organisation does on a local, national and international level,”
“[Bill] Shorten is a mad cunt and we love him here at the Bugle.”
