A local government worker has arrived at work this morning to find the place empty.
Martin Cleary, who does something with a computer inside the gargantuan Department of Primary Industries offices in our town’s fabled Old City District, told The Advocate that not even the receptionist had bothered to turn up for work this morning.
The 28-year-old upstart phoned our reporter just after 10 this morning and said he felt confused and worried that he’d missed a memo.
“Turns out I had,” he said.
“Before Easter, our boss told us to take the full 10-days off over Easter and gave us instructions on how to do it in the work
“But there was a part under it that said we should use a sick day on the 29th, making it 11 days off in a row,”
“I took the full 10 but forgot to take today off, too.”
Cleary said he didn’t know what to do and asked our reporter what he thought he should do.
Our reporter told him he didn’t know what he should do and that he’s on his own.
More to come.
