Northern Irish silverfox heart throb, Liam Neeson, is set to star in new action thriller vaguely based on the story he regretfully told a journalist like 24 hours ago.
The 66-year-old actor – who saw his career rebooted in 2008 by action franchise ‘Taken’ – has signed up to the lead titular role in the action movie biopic.
The film has been tentatively titled ‘The Cosh’ – but earlier reports suggested it may be linked as a sequel to his previous revenge film franchise, under the titled ‘TAKEN: Out Of Context”.
Neeson will star as Liam Neeson, a drunk younger bloke who is going through an uncharacteristic fit of rage due to some traumatic news he’s just heard and man’s primal need for revenge.
The suffering of a close friend at the hands of a black man sets him on a crusade to justice, which sees him nearly caught up in murder, violence and other hate crimes.
The film will be adapted from the Neeson thriller press junket story and will be directed by Tarik Saleh, who helmed the 2017 award-winning indie hit ‘The Nile Hilton Incident’.
Justin Haythe, who worked on Jennifer Lawrence’s spy thriller ‘Red Sparrow’, has penned the script.
Neeson’s films have made over $7 billion worldwide, and his latest action was ‘The Commuter’.
Director Justin Haythe spoke to the Betoota Advocate to discuss the plot of the story.
“Basically it’s about a guy that goes to press junket to promote an action movie he’s in, and then in a weird lapse of concentration he accidentally lets slip a pretty heavy story about how one time his friend got raped by a black guy so he hit the streets armed with a cosh and the clear intention to kill a black man indiscriminately” said Haythe.
“The film then flashes back 40 years, and shows Neeson in his now famous role as a revenge-made Northern Irishman stalking the streets with the plan to kill someone”
“Anyway, basically he admits it was a horrific slip of unconscious bias and that he immediately sought professional help afterwards, but that it isn’t enough and heaps of white people on Twitter decide that he should be cancelled”

‘The Cosh’ is expected to be released in Australian cinemas on Christmas Day 2020.
