Mining magnate Gautam Adani has been praised by coal advocates today following the announcement that the coal mine in the Galiee basin will go ahead.
After initally facing revenue issues, the company announced yesterday that they had managed to secure the funding required to get the project up and running.
That news was greeted warmly by Federal Resources Minister Matt Canavan who congratulated the company on its “focus and commitment to the project”.
“Adani has been a little Aussie battler. So many have written it off but they just keep chugging along,” he tweeted.
Canavan, who thanked the resources sector for allowing him to represent them after he had to stand down from cabinet during the dual citizienship saga, told The Advocate today that the news is a win for the little guy.
“How good’s this for an underdog story,” Canavan said.
“Everyone tried to knock this poor Indian billionaire down, kick him around and run him into the ground. But in a true tale of Aussie perseverance the, he stuck at it and he got there in the end.”
“It’s an Aussie success story for the generations. Justifying pillaging the country’s natural resources for personal profit by claiming that the project will have flow on benifits to the economy.”
“And they have even managed to do it with interest free loans from the government!”
“I just can’t get over how wonderful this tale of Aussie spirit is!”
