The nation’s brightest economic minds are all set to descend on Canberra to push their respective financial positions next week.

The pitch to the media is a summit that will ‘turbo charge sluggish productivity’ – aka a bunch of people who don’t do anything other than talk and attend summits telling people to be more ‘productive.’

The exciting move will see people from all large companies and lobby groups battle with the unions about how the pie gets shared around, in what is being dubbed Jim Chalmers’ Economic Summit.

Also known as a Jim Chalmers’ Roundtable, the big event in Canberra is set to discuss a number of major economic issues.

One of those set to headline the big filibuster is a discussion about artificial intellegence is going to run riot on the future workforce.

While Jim Chalmers has come out to claim that AI is a great opportunity, many who work in places like offices and factories are not so sure.

“Yeah, we are excited to discuss what we should do with all the roles that are about to become redundant thanks to AI and robots,” said Chalmers.

“Obviously successive governments have stood by and let the manufacturing sector disappear, our tertiary eduction system spiral into a money making scheme that will lose its international appeal imminently, left farmers to fight for themselves in the face of global warming and done very little to create new industry and innovation,” continued the Treasurer.

“But yeah, simply just digging and piping shit out of the ground and the seabed isn’t really going to carry us any longer so we should figure out what to do about that as well.”

“Cause those job losses combined with the AI revolution are going to leave us pretty isolated down at the bottom of the world.”

“So yeah pretty keen to work out what we can do on that one.”

More to come.
