A usually bustling share house group chat has come to a standstill this week, with reports its now reached its 48 hour mark without a single open, which may or not have something to do with the fact that the token responsible roommate has asked for everyone to cough up the bills.
Typing in a ‘hey, can everyone pls transfer me $122 each for bills’, Mira Devi, 28, thought she’d made it pretty straight forward that it was time to pay the bills.
But what she hadn’t accounted for, was that no one was going to open the message.
“Funny, they respond to everything else so quickly!”, says Mira, “I know they’ve seen it!”
“Not opening the message doesn’t miraculously make the bills disappear!”
Mira says she unfortunately landed being the bills handler after there was a lease changeover, and she was the last original housemate standing.
“I just saw a brand new Amazon package in the living room this morning too! Come on now.”
When asked if she’s tried asking for them in person, Mira says that will have to be her last resort because she has anxiety.
“I’ll have to try another group message first.”
“Maybe I’ll @ them.”
