A local man has saved his younger edge-lord cousin from the brink of the alt-right pipeline by sitting him down and forcing him to watch the 1999 movie Fight Club.

Like many 38 year olds, watching Fight Club multiple times was an important coming of age for moment for Harvey Renald (40) – which he hopes to share with his teenage nephew.

“Absolute classic, so much better on the second watch when you realise what’s going on” explained Harvey.

Fight Club (and other late 90’/early 2000s films like Matrix) came to define a generation of men, who sculpted their entire personalities around these edgy films.

“It took me a few watches and a youtube explainer back in 2008 to really understand the message of that movie, but once I did, it completely challenged my views on masculinity”

Years later, Harvey has found himself on the couch with his 16 year old nephew, exposing him to the Y2K personality shifting-movie – albeit spending a lot of time reminding his nephew to stay off his phone and keep his eyes on the movie every 10 minutes.

Despite never actually watching a full length movie in his life, Harvey’s nephew Griffin is still familar with the movie.

“Oh yeah I saw an Andrew Tate tiktok edit to this movie” said Griffin

While Harvey has has aggressively reiterated that the whole point of Fight Club is totally against everything to do Andrew Tate, it doesn’t seem to be cutting through.

Additionally, Harvey’s nephew has now taken to sizing random people up and calling them out to fight.

“I’m sure the message of the movie will sink in after a few watches” said an optimising Harvey
