Local woman Alice McKenzie (34), has just entered her 9th year of putting off switching to a bank that doesn’t invest in environmentally harmful mining operations and weapons manufacturing.

The millennial woman, who was made aware of her mainstream bank’s shady business dealings nearly a decade ago, is no closer to actually switching bank after making the decision to do so in 2016.

“I just have so many subscriptions and stuff you know?” Alice explained defensively.

Despite a strong moral urge to make the switch, Alice says the thought of changing over all her direct debits gives her a weird pit in her stomach.

“I’ve definitely looked online at some more ethical banks that are out there” she added.

“but then I keep getting distracted and just putting it off”

Despite making no concrete steps towards the switch, Alice will still tell friends that they really should switch to an ethical bank, after a few wines.

“She means well” said close friend Jess.

Sources confirm Alice once got as far as opening a new tab to compare banks but closed it immediately after seeing the words ‘Direct debit transfer form’.

When asked if she thinks she’ll finally make the switch in 2025, Alice nodded slowly while staring into the distance.

“I just need to find a good window where I actually have some free time”
