Local mum Debra Hamilton is having an absolute field day with the Emoji keyboard after discovering the power of the small digital icons.
The 62 year old mother of 4 was made privy to the emoticons by her youngest daughter.
“Oh! that’s how you do those! So I can do that on my phone whenever I want?” Said Debra after being made aware that she too can use emoji’s.
Moments after the discovery, Debra was seen sending off texts to all of her contacts, littered with Emoji’s — including the ones no one really uses like the sun flower and the palm tree.
“Oh god what have I done…” said Mia Hamilton (25), Debra’s youngest daughter.
Within minutes the family group chat had descended into a chaotic array of random emojis, with Debra responding to every message with a minimum of six emojis, regardless of context.
Even a simple “got it” was now accompanied by a dolphin, a martini glass, and what appeared to be a Japanese temple.
Family members say Debra’s newfound love of emojis has led her to retroactively react to texts from as far back as 2017.
At one point, she accidentally sent a string of 34 emojis to her accountant, including a flamingo and a crying-laughing face.
“Look, I just think the little pictures really help set the tone” Debra explained, while sending a thumbs up, a koala, and a disco ball.
