The Channel that prides itself on its efforts to talk to young Australians has today announced a big shiny new show.

“Yeah, we are leaning into the whole Old is New nostalgiacore kind of trend,” said a spokesperson for Channel 10 today.

“We are bringing back Australia’s Funniest Home Videos,” they said.

“Think of it like TikyTok but on your TV and you don’t have to scroll or see a random fucked up video that rattles you in front of your housemate.”

The decision to bring back the iconic TV show follows the decision to axe their flagship program The Project.

The Project was axed over the weekend, marking another sad end for a nationally syndicated major program.

It marks the end for the show that has helped shaped the news cycle for 16 years, and platformed plenty of young journalists, musicians, comedians and sports stars.

The show’s hosts took to the airwaves last night with a rather sombre tone, as yet another current affairs program cops the bullet.

Waleed and Sarah didn’t comment on the news that Funniest Home Videos will be returning in the prime time slot, but sources close to the show have confirmed the new move is a measure aimed at cutting costs.

It’s not known if the new show will get user submitted content, or if it will just scrape funny shit off social media and put it on the airwaves.

More to come.
