A local-postie has been caught red handed with a deck of pre-filled “Sorry We Missed You” cards earlier today.
The incident occurred when Josh Turner (25), a 2 year postman in a sleepy suburban area, was seen casually popping the Sorry We Missed you cards into the mailboxes of several homes.
“It’s a lot easier than standing around and waiting for someone to come and collect their parcel, what can I say?” Josh said while cooly tapping in another Sorry We Missed you card into a letterbox.
Moments after this bombshell admission, a deck of about 40 other pre-filled out cards cascaded out of his bag.
“Oh yeah, I like to fill these at the depot, a little life hack taught to me by one of the older fellas”
While onlookers were stunned to see the reason why their parcels always seem to end up at the post office for pick up, Josh remained fairly nonchalant about the whole thing.
“This is postie tradition, I think it would be weirder if I waited around to hand over the parcel” explained Josh.
“I mean, what if they don’t answer? What am I supposed to do—knock twice?” he added, laughing.
Despite the casual attitude, Australia Post has confirmed it is investigating the incident and reviewing local delivery practices.
“This is unfortunately not the first time we’ve seen this kind of shortcut taken,” a spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, local residents are demanding answers—and their parcels—after discovering Josh hadn’t even attempted to knock, let alone ring the bell.
