A local father has been left wondering this week after discovering that his picky toddler consumed four full servings of vegetable dahl during daycare hours, despite refusing to anything that casts a shadow when at home.

Bevan Meagher, who has a computer job in the city, says he was informed of the incident during pick-up from the Green Street Early Learning Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

“They said she ate it all and asked for more,” said Meagher, referring to his three-year-old daughter, Mango.

“I genuinely thought they had confused him with another kid. Mine doesn’t eat anything that looks at him the wrong way.”

According to staff, Mango not only polished off her own portion of lentil-based stew, but also returned to the kitchen bench on three separate occasions with an empty bowl, requesting additional servings.

This stands in stark contrast to Mango’s behaviour at home, where she regularly refuses toast if it is cut into triangles instead of squares.

“They tell me she eats better with her peers around,” Meagher said.

“If it takes peer pressure for her to eat then God help me.”

At the time of print, the child had once again refused dinner on the basis that the pasta was too bendy.

She later consumed Wednesday’s half-empty yogurt bag he fished out of the bin.

More to come.
