A local queer woman is having a terrible day today, having just discovered that Australian born WWE star Rhea ‘Mami’ Ripley is married to a man, of all people.
Having never been particularly interested in wrestling, Anita Yeager 28, says she discovered Rhea via a very thirsty Tik Tok reel, and has been obsessed with the two time women’s world champion ever since.
“I’d never been that interested in wrestling as I figured it was just theatre for straight men”, said Anita, “but then I discovered what I was missing out on.”
“I think it might be the greatest sport of all time.”
Anita is not alone with her adoration for Ripley, who has been dubbed the ‘internet’s favourite wrestler’, due to her legion of fans, many of whom are women.
Ripley is not only one of the highest earning female wrestlers in WWE, but is also the only female champion to have come from down under.
In fact, only two Australians have won a WWE in total, with Buddy Murphy being the first person to nab the title.
He also happens to be Rhea Ripley’s husband, which is arguably an even better prize, according to Anita.
“I was pretty devastated when I found out”, Anita admits, even though she knows she probably didn’t have much of a chance anyway, “I hope he can fight.”
“Wait, eugh…he can.”
Anita ends the interview by softly crying, and muttering something about how much she wishes Ripley could just pick her up and cradle her like a baby.
