A nerdy bloke named Conrad Is a little pissed off by how normalised these Labubu things are becoming after almost a decade of his Funko Pop collection being ridiculed.
“Do you know how many blank stares I get when I boast about my Funko Pop collection??” Conrad lamented.
“Now I’m seeing these Labubu figurines on the runways in Milan… it’s a joke”
Labubu’s, a goblin like collectable that were popularised by various K-pop stars and further spread by hot girls on Instagram, are now one of the hottest collectables on the market — and totally accepted by society unlike other much beloved figurines which are generally traded between the nerds of the world.
“Where was this energy when I tried to bring my glow-in-the-dark Darth Maul Pop to a first date?” he added, visibly frustrated.
Conrad says the double standard is clear.
“Put a Labubu in your tote bag? Quirky and cool. Bring a Funko Pop to the office? HR meeting.”
He also claims the Labubu fandom is getting away with things “anime fans used to be crucified for.”
At press time, Conrad was seen bitterly scrolling through TikTok while repositioning his limited edition Planet Arlia Vegeta Funko Pop to face the wall “until the hype dies down.”
He has not ruled out buying a Labubu in a vague threat to reclaim the figurine for nerds
