In a hilarious turn of events, former Nationals senator turned Liberal Party problem child, Jacinta Price, is now without a political home.

This comes as her former party announces their plan to split from the Liberal Party after days of unsuccessful negotiations failed to result in a coalition agreement, breaking with a century-long tradition.

The Nationals will now sit on the crossbench, and the Liberal Party will form an opposition with less than 30 seats.

As a second-generation Queensland Nationals MP, the party’s leader David Littleproud described the split as one of the “hardest political decisions of his life”.

He told reporters the Nationals would continue to work constructively with the Liberals but they would not re-enter into a formal coalition agreement, due to untenable disagreements between the two parties.

It is not known what these disagreements are, but it is speculated that the Liberals have upset the Nationals by refusing to continue supporting their election-killing Nuclear Power plan that serves no purpose other than to delay the transition away from fossil fuels for another 50 years.

There is also bad blood over the fact that the Liberal Party is not budging on the National Party’s request to increase their number of shadow cabinet positions.

And of course, there is the great disrespect that was shown to the National Party last week, when Liberal MP Angus Taylor recruiting Northern Territory senator Jacinta Price to first change parties, and then run as his Deputy during the party’s leadership ballot.

Senior Nationals figures took to the media last week to criticise the Liberals for their arrogance in poaching Price before the votes had even been counted.

Jacinta Price has long been viewed as a promising National Party figure after the entire right-wing decided that her ability to destroy the Indigenous Voice referendum made her a good politician.

It is believed that Taylor convinced her to join the party with the promise of getting more time on TV, which has been her number one career motivation ever since her days as an Alice Springs rnb singer.

Angus Taylor ended up losing the leadership ballot to Sussan Ley MP, this resulted in Jacinta Price choosing to not put her hand up for the subsequent Deputy leadership.

The right-wing of the Liberal Party, who had instigated this betrayal of the Nationals to recruit Jacinta Price, are now filthy with her for not following through with the plan.

With the coalition officially split in half, Jacinta Price remains the most populist right-wing figure in a Liberal Party that is desperate to return to the centre after being annihilated at the 2025 Federal Election.

Both the Nationals and the Liberal Party now view her as a traitor – a term that has long been associated with Jacinta Price throughout her meteoric rise in Australian politics.

The only powerbroker still in her corner is billionaire mining baron Gina Rhinehart.

It is not unimaginable that Jacinta price will eventually join One Nation before the next election.
