The faceless men and women who shape the country are this week under the pump.
Normally a week where they can enjoy a couple of long lunches and reveal in their client’s success, lobby firms around Australia are frantically trying to get their affairs in order.
This comes after an unexpected number of Federal Politicians from the Liberals hit the free market following their landslide election loss.
That means a vast number of jobs and consultancy roles need to be made available for those outgoing politicians.
One such firm whose been under pressure is Betoota based McOutsey-Dirthouse-Cooopers (MDC), who are frenetically trying to sort out a couple of big names.
“Yeah, we’ve been in meetings all week,” said a spokesperson for MDC.
“Obviously there aren’t as many cushy gigs in fossil fuels anymore, and the clean energy side of things isn’t that keen on the Blue team,” he sighed.
“So it’s narrowed us down to military, property, and the banking sector.”
“But the banks aren’t that keen on the actual talent coming out of the party, and they feel they weren’t protected enough over the last decade or so.”
“Which narrows it down again.”
“Anyway, it’s all good, we’ll get there, but it’s just a bit bigger a work load than we had hoped for at this point in the election cycle.”
More to come.
