1. He Cares About Women

Peter Dutton has a proven track record in helping women in need, having personally intervened in the deportation of four European au pairs in 2018.

Not only did Dutton work tirelessly to grant these promising young women tourist visas but he even made late night phone calls to ensure they wouldn’t spend a single night in immigration detention, and could instead stay with the millionaire party donors who had employed them as illegals.

Sure, there might have been a few personal ties given the au pairs were working for his friends, but that shouldn’t discredit Dutton’s act of goodwill. In fact, it goes to show just how far he’ll stick his neck out for his mates.

2. He Supports Small Business

Small businesses are the lifeblood of the Australian economy.

Whether it’s a corner store, or a roofing company – or even a little offshore security contractor like Paladin.

Paladin were just a bunch of go-getters who ran their business out of a little shack on Kangaroo Island. They didn’t have much to their name, but they had drive.

Peter Dutton recognised this, and his Home Affairs Department paid Paladin a total of $532 million for a contract that lasted 801 days – that’s equivalent to $664,169 per day.

3. He Believes Working Families Deserve More

That’s why it was so generous of the Home Affairs Minister to spend $350 million dollars to send the Murugappan family to Christmas island for 2 years.

In what other world does a childcare worker and an abattoir worker from a regional town like Biloela get the luxury of taking their two young daughters to live in tropical off-shore public housing for the most formative years of their childhood?

Anthony Albanese unfairly ended this holiday when he was elected.

4. He Supports The Right To Disconnect And The Right To Work From Home

Everyone deserves to switch off. Peter Dutton truly believes this.

That’s why he has a 42% attendance rate in the Federal Parliament.

That’s why he makes no apologies for fleeing his electorate in the middle of Cyclone Alfred to attend a fundraiser with billionaire Liberal Party donors in Sydney.

Furthermore, he didn’t face the media for 5 days after returning from the billionaire fundraiser. He was working from home.

5. He’s A Family Man

That’s why he hides his $300 million fortune in a family trust.

A politician might use a family trust to reduce tax, protect assets, and support family members. Trusts allow income to be distributed to beneficiaries in lower tax brackets (IE sons who can’t afford homes), lowering the overall tax paid all up, and making it harder for jealous tall poppies to figure out where all your family’s money is coming from.

6. He Has Strong Gut Instincts About The Stock Market

He might not look like it, but Peter Dutton is a genius when it comes to the stock market. And has been since a young age.

As a Liberal shadow minister in his thirties, Peter Dutton made some very savvy investments in all the major Australian banks. This was just days before the Federal Government gave them a $650+ billion bail-out during the GFC. Talk about getting in early!

7.
His Team Are Innovative And Modern

It isn’t just Peter Dutton that makes the Liberal Party ready to govern. You’ve got to look at the people he surrounds himself with
.
Aside from the impressive business figures, like mining tycoon Gina Rhinehart, and the many other Sydney billionaires he calls close friends, Peter Dutton has a very sharp Shadow Cabinet

They are an innovative and youthful team of impressive political minds. Look no further than the fool-proof debt retrieval program computer programme they created known as Robodebt.

Sure. It was later found unlawful and may have caused a few poor people to kill themselves, but it recovered $785 million in debt. That’s pretty good value for the $600m it cost to build.

8. He Doesn’t Make Excuses

If there’s one thing you won’t see Peter Dutton doing, it’s making excuses – and he expects the same from his opponents.

Such was the case in 2019 when Dutton accused Labor’s candidate for Dickson, Ali France, of using her disability as an excuse not to live in the electorate.

France, who had her left leg amputated in 2011 after being hit by a car, said she had no choice but to live in a neighbouring electorate as she found it difficult to find a wheelchair-accessible home in Dickson.

But Dutton was quick to point out that there were plenty of people living with disabilities in Dickson, and that residents were reportedly ‘quite angry’ that France was using her disability as an excuse not to live in our area.

Of course, Dutton has since stated that he plans on moving to the Kirribilli mansion in Sydney if he wins this election, but a prime minister can’t be expected to live in Strathpine.

9. He Doesn’t Answer To Anyone

Peter Dutton will not be influenced. Either from outside the party, or within, which has been a problem for a few Liberal leaders before him.

Everyone knows that Peter Dutton is in charge of the Liberal Party.

In fact it’s actually gotten to the point where Andrew Hastie MP and several other shadow ministers are removing all Liberal colours and logos from their campaign material.

10. He Respects The Australian Constitution

Peter Dutton takes the Australian Constitution very seriously. After being investigated for potential breach of ministerial standards and Section 44 of the Constitution, which prohibits MPs from profiting from government contracts.

Peter Dutton had to read the entire thing to figure out how to best distance himself from his multimillion dollar childcare empire, that may or may not receive such benefits.

11. He Wants To Protect The Constitution

This goes without saying.

Peter Dutton cares so much about the constitution that he spent 6 months as Opposition leader – and hundreds of millions in donor’s money to fight the Indigenous Voice Proposal – all while vowing to still give Indigenous people constitutional recognition afterwards.

However, he ultimately decided the Constitution would be devalued if he did indeed have the Aboriginals added to it.

12. He Can Adapt

Look no more to Peter Dutton’s multiple policy backflips throughout the duration of the 2025 Federal Election campaign.

Forcing workers into the office not polling well? Let’s scrap that.

Tax-free corporate long lunches on the nose? Never mind!

My EV concessions are clashing with my fuel rebate? Let’s go with just the fuel rebate!

If you don’t like what he stands for, Peter Dutton is happy to stand for something else.

13. He’s Just An Everyday Bloke

Peter Dutton knows that times are tough out there and that simple groceries like a carton of eggs costs roughly $4.80.

14. He Doesn’t Settle For Second Best

Never forget the bravery Peter Dutton showed when he called two leadership spills against his own Liberal Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in 2018.

Dutton would not stand by and watch his party be ruined by a dashing Sydney ‘moderate’ who believed in climate change.

Ultimately both spills were unsuccessful, and Peter Dutton miscalculated the support he had in the party room, but he still deserves praise for getting rid of Turnbull and replacing him with the much more competent Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

15. He Knows The Art Of The Deal

Peter Dutton models himself off US President Donald Trump, and it’s with those strongman tactics of negotiation that he was able to successfully pull together a preference deal with far right white supremacist Pauline Hanson.

It’s a deal that works for both of them, but nobody else in Australian politics would’ve even thought to do it.

16. He Has His Priorities Straight

Peter Dutton refuses to get bogged down on time wasting.

That’s why he walked out of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s formal Apology to the Stolen Generation.

It was 2007,  and was just a young Liberal Party MP who was busy trying to build his empire as a property developer.

He was honest about his decision to boycott the Apology, and made it clear that he ‘regarded this historic moment as something which was not going to deliver tangible outcomes to kids who are being raped and tortured’
