Australia is this weekend preparing to enjoy the first truly ubiquitous moment since the Matildas stormed to the Semi-Finals of the World Cup on home soil.
As the country prepares to join together in unison once again, the menu for the truly nationwide event has been released.
A sumptuous democracy sausage lathered with MasterFoods democracy sauce has been confirmed for constituents from Hobart to Cairns and across to the Golden West.
A famous staple of Aussie barbies, the humble sausage sandwich becomes a Democracy Sausage on the rare occasion of a federal election – with non-vegetarian around the country reveling in the simple but delightful feed.
For those procrastinators voting in the afternoon, the breakfast menu will be served all day, with sausage sambos providing a delectable lunch spread.
The famous feed will of course be accompanied by a healthy squeeze of MasterFoods Tomato Sauce – aka Democracy Sauce – to mark the special occasion.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’ll pump a sausage sambo any day of the week, year, or election cycle,” laughed local man Lachlan Marshall.
“But on election day, I’m definitely ploughing through a couple of ambiguous meat parcels on some white bread drowned in tommy sauce (aka dommy tommy sauce).”
“With onions of course.”
When asked whether he’d ever go a bit of BBQ sauce on the morsel of food, he simply laughed.
