An overly hopeful Novocastrian has been on the blower to a bunch of tattoo parlours this week, as he tries to book himself time in the chair to acquire some commemorative ink.
With his beloved ‘Newy Knights’ playing finals footy, local Jesmond man Brodie Brennan-Jones has been drawing up some ideas for a full leg sleeve, one that mirrors the hectic ink of his favourite player, Bradman Best.
After struggling to get into any of the shops along Hunter Street, which are fully booked out by other hopeful Knights fans, Brodie told The Advocate he’ll be heading a little west to the lego block home metropolis of Maitland to get himself some mad leggings.
“Yeah I just got myself a four day sitting at Alchemy Asylum studios in Maitland, I checked out their work on Instagram, it’s pretty fkn sick!”
“I had to ask my boss for the time off work, but he actually played a bit of Jersey Flegg for the Knights back in the day, he totally gets it.”
Buoyed by his team’s nine straight wins into the finals series, Brodie admitted it was hard to not get a little ahead of himself and start planning for Mad Monday.
“Mate if we win, I won’t be going to work for two weeks. I actually don’t think anyone in Newy will be picking up a hammer or putting on the hi vis til November.”
“Even if we lost the GF I’d probably be on the next flight to Bali to celebrate the season with Ponga, Crossland and the boys. In fact I could probably get a cheeky arm done over there while I’m there!”
“I’d love ‘Steel City’ right down my forearm, that’d be gun!”
More to come.
