A Betoota man has paid overs for dessert in Brisbane this week after experiencing a food trend that’s decided to become cool again after a 5-year hiatus.

Having travelled to BrisVegas to take his daughter to some Women’s World Cup match ups at Suncorp, local Dad Terry Kennedy (46) spent the weekend enjoying some family time and trialling a fad dessert that hasn’t quite yet made it to Betoota.

Given that his daughter Caitlynn, 14, routinely spends five hours a day glued to “TikkyTok”, Terry was dragged to a number of food joints that came with a complimentary 25 minute queue to get inside.

One establishment in particular that really impressed Terry was “FroYoLo”, a weigh your own yoghurt dispensary that allowed him to pimp out tarty strawberry yoghurt with an array from sweets from crushed Oreos, gummy bears and the psychopaths favourite, sour straps.

But after pouring a few lengths of chocolate yoghurt into a cup, an experience which reminded him way too much of his family kelpie ‘Benji’ taking a crap, Terry discovered his dessert experience was about to get a whole lot more creative given he had unlimited toppings options.

“So I can just load up on any of these, even the choccie brownies?” Terry asked his daughter who was a few steps ahead, “this place is like Cold Rock with probiotics!”

Unaware that the whole business model of frozen yoghurt institutions is to charge like a wounded bull for icy yoghurt and mask the price hike with a quirky array of dessert toppings, Terry was really blindsided by the whole experience when he came to pay.

“That’ll be $28.36 for the two,” the cashier told Terry.

“And do you want to join our members program with a $10 reusable coconut shell?”

The Advocate can confirm Terry declined and proceeded to find his nearest servo for a proper ice cream for a second dessert.
