Outrage in the backyard of a Perth family as the favourite child has been let off big time by mum.
Kelly Host, Ellenbrook mother of 3 has been accused of “bringing the game into disrepute” by her sons Jayden and Connor.
“She knows the rules! We’re forever using her to determine if someone was out or not, surprise surprise she lets Caleb off easy! 1 hand 1 bounce really isn’t that hard to remember” spat Jayden.
Caleb Host, the youngest child had a different view on the situation.
“I just think I’ve got a psychological advantage over mum, she always loses her composure around me, should see how bad she is at playing goalie when I’m having a shot, or how she forgets her right from left when we’re playing Mario Kart. She never does that against my brothers”
We were unconvinced until we heard that not only did Kelly catch off the bounce two handed, but a ball earlier she “accidentally” kicked a ball she was fielding into the fence before declaring “oops, is that four runs!?”
Family dynamics can be a complicated thing, often hard to determine. In this case however it is quite clear that Kelly holds her youngest on a pedestal. Concerning to see the effects as Connor was the only boy noted not to call out “bowling Gary” when one of his brothers really got one to turn.
Scary to be reminded that favouritism is everywhere, even something as sacred as backyard cricket.
More to come.
